Burnstown sculptor Richard Gill has always been fascinated with the history of settlements. Renfrew County's 150 anniversary has compelled him to document and preserve some images of lost landscapes and present day landmarks that dot the surrounding countryside where he has resided since 1972. Relentless research of archival material has provided him with some of the visual details necessary to conceive some of the images. Heritage scenes that depict the early explorers, settlers and communities, the days of the big timber, riverboats on the Ottawa River, and the K & P (Kingston/Pembroke) Railway to note just a few. |
